Very special linear gravity: A gauge-invariant graviton mass

نویسندگان

چکیده

Linearized gravity in the Very Special Relativity (VSR) framework is considered. We prove that this theory allows for a non-zero graviton mass mg without breaking gauge invariance nor modifying relativistic dispersion relation. find analytic solution new equations of motion our choice, verifying as expected existence only two physical degrees freedom. Finally, through geodesic deviation equation, we confront some results classic gravitational waves (GW) with VSR ones: see ratios between effects and classical ones are proportional to (mg/E)2, E being energy GW. For GW detectable by interferometers LIGO VIRGO ratio at most 10−20. However, lower frequency range future detectors, like LISA, increases significantly 10−10, combined anisotropic nature phenomena may lead observable effects.

cosmological density fluctuations and gravity waves: a covariant approach to gauge-invariant non-linear perturbation theory

We present a new approach to gauge-invariant cosmological perturbations at second order, which is also covariant. We examine two cases in particular for a dust Friedman-Lemâıtre-RobertsonWalker model of any curvature: we investigate gravity waves generated from clustering matter, that is, induced tensor modes from scalar modes; and we discuss the generation of density fluctuations induced by gr...

Screening the Graviton Background, Graviton Pairing, and Newtonian Gravity

It is shown that screening the background of super-strong interacting gravitons creates for any pair of bodies as an attraction force as well an repulsion force due to pressure of gravitons. For single gravitons, these forces are approximately balanced, but each of them is much bigger than a force of Newtonian attraction. If single gravitons are pairing, a body attraction force due to pressure ...

Mass for the graviton

Can we give the graviton a mass? Does it even make sense to speak of a massive graviton? In this essay I shall answer these questions in the affirmative. I shall outline an alternative to Einstein Gravity that satisfies the Equivalence Principle and automatically passes all classical weak-field tests (GM/r ≈ 10). It also passes medium-field tests (GM/r ≈ 1/5), but exhibits radically different s...

Gauge-invariant coherent states for Loop Quantum Gravity II: Non-abelian gauge groups

This is the second paper concerning gauge-invariant coherent states for Loop Quantum Gravity. Here, we deal with the gauge group SU(2), this being a significant complication compared to the abelian U(1) case encountered in the previous article. We study gauge-invariant coherent states on certain special graphs by analytical and numerical methods. We find that their overlap is Gauss-peaked in ga...

Time-Invariant State Feedback Control Laws for a Special Form of Underactuated Nonlinear Systems Using Linear State Bisection

Linear state bisection is introduced as a new method to find time-invariant state feedback control laws for a special form of underactuated nonlinear systems. The specialty of the systems considered is that every unactuated state should be coupled with at least two directly actuated states. The basic idea is based on bisecting actuated states and using linear combinations with adjustable parame...
